Service Overview

These certifications are not decorative. Each one requires independent auditing, measurable targets and continuous improvement over time. Together they cover the full scope of the resort's environmental footprint — construction and architecture, golf course management, water and energy use, wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Holding all four at once places this resort among a very small group of developments in Europe that can demonstrate verified environmental responsibility across every area of operation.

The starting point was not to minimise damage — it was to build something that genuinely belongs in its surroundings. The pine forest was kept. The wetland was protected. The architecture was designed to consume as little energy as possible. The golf courses were laid out to work with the landscape rather than against it. The certifications came as a result of that approach, not the other way around.

EMAS — Eco-Management and Audit Scheme

EMAS is the European Union's voluntary environmental management and audit scheme. It certifies that an organisation has implemented a rigorous environmental management system, regularly measures and reports its environmental performance, and continuously works to reduce its impact. It goes beyond ISO 14001 by requiring public disclosure of verified environmental data through an annual environmental statement audited by an independent third party. It is considered the most demanding environmental management standard in Europe.

BREEAM — Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology

BREEAM is the world's leading sustainability assessment and certification method for buildings. It evaluates a building across multiple categories including energy efficiency, water consumption, materials used, indoor environmental quality, waste management and ecological impact. A BREEAM-certified building has been independently verified to meet high standards of sustainable design and construction. In practical terms, it means the homes use significantly less energy for heating and cooling, reducing both running costs and carbon emissions over the building's lifetime.

GEO

GEO Certified — Golf Environment Organization

GEO Certification is the internationally recognised standard for environmental responsibility in golf. It verifies that a golf course actively manages its environmental impact across four key areas: nature and biodiversity conservation, water efficiency and responsible usage, energy reduction and carbon management, and community and supply chain responsibility. Certified courses must demonstrate ongoing improvement and are independently audited on a regular basis. It is the benchmark standard for sustainable golf course management worldwide.

Audubon International Gold Signature Sanctuary

The Audubon International Signature Sanctuary is the highest level of certification awarded by Audubon International, a non-profit organisation focused on environmental education and the stewardship of natural resources. Gold level recognition means the facility has demonstrated exceptional commitment to wildlife habitat conservation, responsible water and resource management, chemical use reduction, and environmental education. It certifies that the golf courses function not just as sporting facilities but as genuine sanctuaries for local biodiversity, actively protecting and enhancing the natural ecosystem around them.
